Mathias Buus Madsen

Mathias lives in Copenhagen, Denmark.

He tends to publish a lot stuff on github, https://github.com/mafintosh
In the last years he has mainly been working with distributed systems and peer to peer in node (among other things he wrote a streaming torrent client called torrent-stream, a torrent video player and a torrent based file system)

He also works on the dat project (https://dat-data.com) where we’re trying to revolutionize how data is being shared and versioned.

Level: Intermediate, some NodeJS knowledge required - Schedule: 15:00 - 17:30

P2P File sharing workshop

This is gonna be a workshop about how to do distributed programming in Node.

The overall idea is that we’ll start out really slow with assignments that everyone can finish (like writing a simple streaming chat server) and then slowly move on to more interesting p2p applications like distributed state and end up with some mad science p2p stuff.

No matter what your experience is with distributed systems there should be fun stuff to learn for everybody

Node is in my opinion an amazing platform for creating distributed systems because of streams / evented io and npm. Hopefully this workshop will inspire a lot of people of join this community.
